My experience with the Woodpecker 812T motor has been extremely positive. It allows me to perform difficult retreatments and remove gutta-percha, calcifications, and other obstructions from canals very effectively.
One feature I particularly love is the T-mode, which enables precise work in calcified canals by allowing significantly lower RPMs. Unlike commonly used motors such as the X-Smart from Dentsply, which typically goes as low as around 250 RPM, the 812T allows speeds as low as 50–100 RPM, offering far greater control and reduces risk of file fracture in the challenging cases.
I’ve been testing various protocols and have found the motor to be very user-friendly, with excellent handling and access to difficult-to-reach areas of the mouth. The versatility is impressive—it offers reciprocation as well as sonic action, making it suitable for a wide range of clinical scenarios.
I’m so impressed that I’ve purchased an additional unit, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. In my opinion, it is one of the best motors currently available on the market, if not the best.

The Woodpeck 812 MT rotary unit is my new favourite endodontic motor. The apex locator is accurate and provides consistent, reliable readings. The level of customization I find helpful, with more than enough custom modes to allow a wide range of preferences and rotary systems. I can increase the speed for retreatments or incorporate a custom reciprocating setting to bypass ledges with one button.
The ability to active sonic vibrations during use is an interesting feature, and the T mode for MTA placement is especially useful. It allows for controlled packing, and I find it help provide a well-condensed MTA obturation.
The unit is rather bulky to hold especially if you’re using the button on the handpiece however, I was pleasantly surprised that the unit comes with a foot pedal that has been working very well making handling significantly easier.
The unit cost is very competitive compared to others on the market allowing me to get several of them at different practices. I can highly recommend Dr Terauchi’s approach here, it’s a very helpful motor.

The Woodpecker 812MT endodontic motor with built-in apex locator has streamlined my entire treatment workflow. The accuracy of the apex locator allows continuous working length monitoring during instrumentation, reducing the need for repeated measurements, reducing working length changes during preparation, and improving efficiency. The motor delivers excellent torque control and smooth, responsive operation, giving me confidence in even the most complex canal anatomies.
The MTA compaction handpiece with integrated sonic vibration has significantly improved my placement of calcium silicate materials. The gentle sonic activation enhances the flow and adaptation of MTA into canal irregularities, isthmuses, and apical areas — achieving a dense, void-free fill with minimal effort. Together, these innovations from Woodpecker have elevated both precision and efficiency in my endodontic procedures.
